Former Cornelius Commissioner Mike Miltich has filed to run again

July 12. Michael ‘Dr Mike’ Miltich has filed to run for the Town Board in the local non-partisan fall elections. At this point there are six candidates for five seats.

Miltich, who lives on Nantz Road, previously served three terms as commissioner. During his last term, he was elected chair of the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization, which is composed of elected officials from the 24 member jurisdictions, and does all road, greenway and bike path planning for Iredell, Mecklenburg and urban Union counties.

He has also served on the Cornelius Land Code Development Advisory Board, Transportation Advisory Board, and Affordable Housing Task Force and represented Cornelius on the CMS Municipal Education Advisory Board as well.

The retired ENT physician/surgeon has also served as president of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society.

Other candidates who have filed to run include sitting commissioners Colin Furcht, Michael Osborne and Todd Sansbury. Another commissioner, Denis Bilodeau, has filed to run for mayor, opposing incumbent Woody Washam. Also filing to run for Towwn Board are Susan Johnson, chair of the Planning Board and Scott Higgins, also a member of the Planning Board as well as chair of the Parks commission from 2017 to 2022.

Former Commissioner Thurman Ross is also expected to file to run for the town board.
