July 5. Eggs Up Grill has opened in Turnberry Place, in the former Matt’s Chicago Dogs space. The 2,500-square-foot restaurant is owned by husband-and-wife team Chris and Sofia Mendoza and business partner Alfonso Segura.
It’s a half-block from the old Waffle House which closed two years ago; a month later, Cook House closed.
As far as breakfast spots go, Fresh Egg in The Shops at Fresh Market weathered the pandemic.

Quotable
“We didn’t just want to own a business, but rather we wanted to do something that is meaningful,” said Chris Mendoza. “We invite all of our neighbors to join us at our new restaurant for the best breakfast, brunch and lunch in town, where it will be all about the community.”
