Some town fees will increase July 1

June 27. By Dave Vieser. Fees for some town Parks & Recreation facilities will increase July 1, following the unanimous approval of the new fee schedule by the Cornelius Town Board at their June 19 meeting.

“We review our recreation fees annually, and then recommend changes based on use patterns, comparison with other agencies, and new services,” said Cornelius Finance Director Julie Niswonger.

The Parks & Recreation board also unanimously recommended the changes.

Many of the increases are between $1 and $3.

Some examples of the changes that will go into effect in July 1 include increases in resident and non-resident natural field rental, field preparation, gym rental, and rec center room rental fees. Fees for picnic shelters will also be increased for both residents and non residents.

A complete list of all the increased fees may be found on the town web site, www.Cornelius.org. Click on Peak Agendas under Quick Links. Then click on Board of Commissioners under past events. Next click on the June 19 board meeting agenda. Look for Item 8G for the schedule of fees.
