May 3. [Updated 6:15 pm] The York County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit have arrested former Cornelius policeman Erickson Douglas Lee for dissemination of obscene material to a person under the age of 18, assault and battery 1st degree and criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

The alleged incidents took place in Lee’s home in Fort Mill, SC.
Lee, 25, turned himself in to York County detectives yesterday.
Lee, who resigned from the Cornelius force late last week, had served for about 22 months as a patrol officer.
He had been taken into custody on April 30 in Charlotte, but was later released on a fugitive bond, and subsequently turned himself in.
The investigation is ongoing. Further charges may be pending. Lee was booked into the York County Detention Center.

York County, South Carolina investigators have announced the charges against former officer Erickson Lee. The Cornelius Police Department was informed of the investigation just hours before his arrest on April 28, 2023. Mr. Lee was employed by the Cornelius Police Department for less than two years prior to his resignation on April 28, 2023.
The Cornelius Police Department has been internationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement since 2004 and currently holds Advanced Accreditation. To achieve Advanced Accreditation, CPD follows strict CALEA guidelines related to department operations, including hiring and employment practices and operational policies and procedures. All CPD officers undergo a robust hiring process, including a criminal background check to determine if candidates are disqualified from the process. Additionally, all officers are held accountable to department policies and CALEA standards and are certified by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division.
