WESTMORELAND

Robert Y. Westmoreland, Sr., 92 of Davidson died September 2, 2015. He was born on January 6, 1923 in Mecklenburg County to the late Thomas Calvin Westmoreland and Zula McCord Westmoreland. He graduated from Cornelius High School, Class of 1941. He served in the US Army. Mr. Westmoreland owned and operated Westmoreland Dairy Farm. He was a long time member of both Mt. Zion U.M.C. and Hopewell Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons, Robby Westmoreland wife Margaret of Huntersville and Tommy Westmoreland and wife Laura of Rocky Ford, CO; grandchildren, Tracey Gladish (Kevin), Scott Westmoreland (Jennifer), Philip Westmoreland (Jennifer), Jamey Westmoreland (Lauri Anne) and Sarah Wells (Nathan) and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by brothers Thomas “Mutt” Westmoreland and Delbert Westmoreland and sisters Eula and Evelyn Westmoreland, Jenny Sloop and Sarah Brown.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 6 in the chapel of James Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Vallini officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
