May 18. In these troubling times, four churches in Cornelius are making a statement about peaceful co-existence and fellowship through worship and music.
First Baptist Church of Cornelius, Revive Iglesia Cristiana, NC Kachin Baptist Church and Union Bethel AME Zion will hold a four-church musical worship service June 26 at 11 am at FBCC.
Oriented to music because of language differences, there will be a fellowship meal afterwards with food from all four cultures, according to Rev. David Judge, pastor of First Baptist. The church is located at 21007 Catawba Ave.
“This was planned a few weeks ago, but with the racially motivated shooting in upstate NY events like this are a needed show of solidarity,” Judge said.
Gov. Roy Cooper ordered all US and NC flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset today in honor of the individuals who lost their lives and who were injured in the senseless act of racial violence on Saturday in Buffalo, NY.
