Weekly agenda April 11-17: Hippity hop Easter’s on its way

Trying to figure out what to do? This calendar, published weekly on Mondays, can point you to some of the best options in Lake Norman.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

April 11 

Cardio Funk

6:30-7:30 pm Mondays. Drop in for this high-energy class at Bailey Road Recreation Center. $10 per class, pay at the door.

April 11, 12 and 13

Open Track Nights on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays

6-8 pm. James Hoyt Wilhelm Park’s 1/4-mile walking track will be lighted on Mondays and Bailey Road Park’s regulation track will be lighted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both open to the public.

April 12

Adult Open Gym Basketball 

6:30 to 9 p.m. Adults may drop in on Tuesdays for basketball at Bailey Road Recreation Center, 11536 Bailey Road, inside Bailey Middle School.  Ages 18 and older. Free.

April 12- May 8

Pinkalicious, the Musical 

Advance tickets $12. Armour Street Theatre,307 Armour St., Davidson.

April 13

“The Soul of a Privileged Nigg***” – Ike Bailey (Being Human lecture series) 

7 – 8:30 pm.  Professor Ike Bailey explores the evolution of the n-word in relation to the experiences of his father, his son’s and his own, and what it means to live a life that emerged from poverty and strife and mutated into relative privilege and power but never lets you stop wondering if you really belong or ever will. It goes to the heart of what it means to be human in the field of journalism, particularly as a black native of the Deep South. Visual Arts Center VAC-117 Semans Lecture Hall, Davidson College.

April 14

Outdoors Adventure hike: Spring Stroll

10 – 11:30 a.m. Join Cornelius Parks and Recreation and Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation for a guided hike with naturalist Laura Domingo providing information about the park’s wildlife along the way. Event is free, but  advance registration is recommended. Robbins Park, 17738 W. Catawba Ave.

Davidson College Symphony Orchestra: Not So Far, Far Away 

7:30  – 9 pm. The DCSO presents, for the first time ever, an entire concert featuring John Williams’s music from the Star Wars saga, including music from all three trilogies. Themed attire is welcome for attendance at this concert. Admission is free, but tickets are required. For tickets, contact the Union Box Office at 704-894-2135. Knobloch Campus Center DFPH-Duke Family Performance Hall, Davidson College.

Join the Lake Norman Bridge Center

12:30-4pm Thursdays at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave., if you have an interest in learning the game of bridge or want to develop your playing, bidding, and defense skills. All ages and skill levels are welcome. $5 per day, pay at the door.

Maundy Thursday service

7 pm worship. In-person and livestreamed. Community in Christ Lutheran Church, 7621 Norman Island Dr.

April 15: A morning with the Easter Bunny

A Morning with the Easter Bunny 

10 am – noon.  Bring your toddlers and preschoolers to enjoy Easter-themed crafts, snacks and a chance to take a photo with Peter Cottontail. Don’t forget to bring your camera or smartphone to this free event. Cain Center for the Arts, downtown Cornelius.

Alex Nikolaidis Konstas ’22 Exhibition Presentation and Reception

4-6 pm. An opening reception with Alex Nikolaidis Konstas ’22. Artist’s talk will be presented in-person and via Zoom. To attend by Zoom please RSVP.  A reception will follow the presentation. Visual Arts Center VAC-117 Semans Lecture Hall, Davidson College.

April 16

A morning with the Easter Bunny

10am – noon. Bring your toddlers and preschoolers for creative Easter-themed activities and tasty snacks.  Don’t forget to bring your camera or smartphone. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for cute photo ops with your little ones. Free. Registration is recommended.

Easter Egg Hunt

11 am to 1pm. Blackberry Ridge Farm, 14820 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville,is hosting an Easter egg hunt from open to everyone ages 2-12 and a rock scavenger hunt as well for adults. Face painting, yard games, creating veggie or flower pots, and everyone leaves with a bag of candy. There will also be food, drinks, and cotton candy, served by King Tut’s Hot Dog Palace. Admission is  $10 for ages 2-12 and free for anyone older. 

Davidson Farmers Market

9 am- noon. 120 S. Main St., Davidson. Rain or shine, No pets please.
