April 1. The Old Stool Factory on North Main Street is closing after more than 40 years of producing a wide variety of wooden stools for residential and commercial usage. Only 10 years ago, before the onslaught of Chinese imports, the business employed more than 20 people. There will be a stool sample sale April 16 with many items more than 80 percent off.
