Nov. 2. The number of North Carolinians hospitalized due to COVID-19 has fallen for a 10th straight reporting day, according to data released this afternoon by the NC Dept. of Health & Human Services
Hospitalizations
The NCDHHS today reported 1,150 people hospitalized in North Carolina due to COVID. Two months ago on Sept. 2, there were more than three times as many people hospitalized with the coronavirus.
New cases
The NCDHHS today reported 1,214 new cases, slightly higher than yesterday’s new case volume of 1,096. The peak of Delta variant in North Carolina was late August/early September when there were three reporting days with more 8,000 new daily cases.
Deaths
The NCDHHS also reported 26 new COVID-related deaths today.
Testing
The statewide positivity rate climbed slightly to 6.4 percent today, from 5 percent yesterday and 4.4 percent on Friday.
Mecklenburg
In Mecklenburg County, there were 154 new cases between Friday and today. There was one new COVID-related death, according to NCDHHS.
North Mecklenburg (change from Tuesday)
• Cornelius: 2 new cases, 4,029 cumulative total, 31 deaths cumulative total.
• Davidson: 2 new cases, 2,343 cumulative total, 19 deaths cumulative total.
• Huntersville: 14 new cases, 8,803 cumulative total, 74 deaths cumulative total.
