The no swimming marker on Paradise Cove is gone
July 15. The no swimming advisory for the cove behind Paradise Cove Court near Jetton Road has been lifted. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services said that bacteria counts are within safe limits for swimming and direct contact.
The no-swimming advisory was issued on July 12 after an estimated 200 gallons of untreated sewage was discharged from a home on Paradise Cove into Lake Norman. The discharge originated from a pipe damaged by a private contractor. The pipe has been repaired and the discharge discontinued.
It was the second spill in two weeks.
Because both were accidents, there will not be fines.
