June 28. The body of Eric Jerome Grant was recovered near the main channel of Lake Norman at 12:50 pm Sunday. Crews had been searching in the area around D3 since the accident happened Friday evening.

The Cornelius Fire Department, Sherrills Ford Fire Department and Charlotte Fire Department worked with sonar as well as underwater remotely operated vehicles to find the body.

The search operation also involved NC Wildlife, Cornelius Police and Iredell County Sheriffs.

Officials said Grant, who was 30 years old, was not wearing a life jacket when the incident happened while tubing behind a boat Friday evening.
