May 20
May 20: Holly Hopkins will perform at the Jazz Concert Series
Holly Hopkins. 6-9 pm at Veterans Park, Main Street and Maxwell Street, Huntersville; arrive a little early for table check-in. Advance registration is required; space is limited to 25 tables. Your $10 reservation fee serves as your table holder as well as a $10 OFF coupon to the food truck. Tables are 6-foot rectangles that fit 4-6 people. 6-9 pm. Hosted by Winston Dane – Keller Williams Lake Norman, and the first drink is on them. Come on out to the Gazebo at Jetton Village, 19818 N. Cove Road, across from H2 Public House and meet your neighbors. There will be sliders, beer from Eleven Lakes Brewery and The D3 acoustic trio will perform. Bring a chair and come hangout. Dogs welcome.
Kids in America. 5 – 9 pm. Total 80’s experience. Free. No outside coolers permitted. 401 Langtree Rd., Mooresville.
ASC Virtual block party
The Arts & Sciences Council, Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s lead resource hub and cultural advocate, is hosting one for North Mecklenburg at 6 pm. You have to pre-register to attend. The ASC event includes music and dance performances by Rumbao Latin Dance Co., a dance class by Charlotte Ballet and a chance to win gift certificates to local restaurants. In return, ASC wants to learn from residents about what type of arts and cultural events you would like to see happening in your community.

Jazz Fest

May 31
Memorial Day Observance – Cornelius
10 am on the Cornelius Town Hall lawn across from the Cornelius Veteran’s Monument at Rotary Plaza. The Town of Cornelius and American Legion Post 86 will honor servicemen and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Master of Ceremonies is Commander Gene McKinney, American Legion Post 86 and at the keynote speaker is the Rev. Dr. Tom Labonte. An invocation and closing prayer will be led by Pastor David Judge, First Baptist Church of Cornelius.
The event will also include: POW/MIA Empty Chair and Wreath of Remembrance ceremonies; patriotic music by Tony Bailey; 21-gun salute.
Memorial Day Ceremony 2021 – Huntersville
11 am to noon. The Town of Huntersville and American Legion Post 321 will host the 20th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Park, Main Street and Maxwell Street, Huntersville. This year’s Memorial Day Ceremony will be held in person and recorded live, following COVID-19 requirements.

5-8 pm at Birkdale Village. Come for a stroll through Birkdale Village as you shop special retail deals, enter into giveaways and enjoy a fun night out with your girl squad. The first 20 women to check in at the Grove across from Starbucks will receive a swag bag. If you’re not among the first 20 to arrive, grab a strolling map at check in that includes a raffle ticket to enter into giveaways.

Love, Loss and What I Wore

Bring your blankets and chairs and join us for an evening with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra as we “Celebrate America” under the stars at the Bailey Road Park Bandshell. Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the evening. Wine and craft beer proceeds benefit Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists.
Parking is available at Bailey Road Park (very limited), Bailey Middle School, and the lower lot of WA Hough High School. Shuttles available including ADA accessible options.
