Nov. 10. Angels and Sparrows Soup Kitchen needs your help to feed a family in need this holiday season.
In year’s past, the soup kitchen remained open for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but had low turnout. When organizers polled guests, they said: “We may not be able to afford the traditional holiday meal, but we want to be at home with our family and friends for Thanksgiving and Christmas, just like everyone else.”
Last year, based on this feedback, Angels and Sparrows piloted its Holiday Meal Box Program for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In 2019, the new program provided Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner to 443 people.
This year, the goal is to help 750 people enjoy the holidays at home.
How can you help? Provide a meal box so a family in need can enjoy the tradition of preparing their own holiday meal to celebrate the season. Drop off for meal boxes is 8:30 am and 1 pm through Friday, November 13 at Angels and Sparrows Soup Kitchen, 514 N. Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078.
Too busy to shop? Visit the group’s website to make a gift of $40 and volunteers will do the shopping.
