Nov. 2. Early voting data shows that 69 percent of Cornelius’ registered voters have already voted during Early Voting. Data from the Civitas Institute Vote Trackers show 17,518 people have voted in Cornelius out of 25,249 registered voters.
Those registered as Republicans outnumber Democrats: 6,571 to 4,229. But those registered as Unaffiliated in Cornelius came out strong as well: 6,405 participated in Early Voting which ended Saturday.
Cornelius Town Hall was one of the top locations for Early Voting, with 14,658 votes cast. To view all 33 locations, click here.
Piet Swart, a Davidson resident, was one of the last voters to come through Cornelius Town Hall Saturday afternoon at 2:55 pm.
He said he wanted “all the input I could get” prior to voting without waiting until Election Day. “Nothing will change my mind between now and Tuesday,” Swart said upon leaving Town Hall.
NC House District 98 Candidates Christy Clark and John Bradford were there as well, offering campaign literature and a chance to talk prior to voting. It is a contest between an incumbent (Clark) who defeated an incumbent (Bradford).
