July 24. Want to help Angels & Sparrows? The soup kitchen in Huntersville needs 250 individually packaged desserts each weekday.
Cookies and brownies are the treats of choice, with no frosting and individually wrapped in plastic bags, to be distributed to clients with their lunch meal, which is now provided take-out style or delivered to homes due to coronavirus restrictions.
Community support is vital
Donations enabled Angels & Sparrows to handle a 91% surge in need so far this year compared to last year. Since the beginning of the new coronavirus crisis through June, Angels & Sparrows provided more than 47,000 meals through its emergency pantry and more than 13,000 meals from its kitchen.
Angels & Sparrows had to cancel its annual fundraising dinner on May 8. The agency is unsure if it will be able to hold the Thanksgiving 5k, which is its only other fundraiser.
