Carolina Raptor Center Raptor Trail Opening July 1

June 25. Carolina Raptor Center closed their popular Raptor Trail attraction on March 18, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The Center opened to its members on June 10, and will reopen to the general public starting July 1.

Several policy changes and procedures have been put into place to protect staff, volunteers, and visitors from potential transmission of the COVID-19 virus. The Raptor Trail has been reconfigured as a one-way trail to help with social distancing and hand sanitizing stations are scattered throughout the property.

The staff and volunteers of the Raptor Center have signed a pledge promising to adhere to new cleaning and health policies meant to keep everyone safer. Any surface on the property that may be touched by the public, as well as restrooms, are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized twice per day according to CDC recommendations. Masks are required by everyone –staff, volunteers, and guests– inside buildings and are recommended on the Raptor Trail, though not required for guests outside. Food and drink are also not permitted on the property at this time.

Tickets for the Raptor Trail must be purchased in advance in timed blocks to help limit the number of people on the trail and assist with social distancing. The Center will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and open Wednesday through Sunday in timed blocks from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.. The facility is completely sanitized and disinfected during the closed hours of 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.. All ticket purchases require guests to agree to a Visitor’s Code of Conduct, which includes wearing a mask inside the building. Tickets are not sold without this agreement from guests.
