Into 80’s rock?  HeartBreakers (Heart Tribute Band) will be performing at Langtree Live. Don’t miss the Temptations performing on Saturday, August 3.  The Whitewater Center has 2 events this week, Confluence: Where Music Gathers and the Paddleboard for Purpose.

Earth as Art:  See, Read, Explore

As part of the Library’s Summer Break, at Main Library there are 38 images of our Earth as photographed from satellites in space. These images are beautiful. The exhibit is on loan from NASA and the USGS until August 31.

Friday, August 2

Paddleboard for Purpose

Public spectators can enjoy the paddle races that launch in the beautiful morning hours on Lake Norman. The races are held by the World Paddle Association and is a favorite summer event to attend with activities for all ages.

Our Town Stage Presents the Part Time Blues Band

FREE concert outdoors at Town Hall. Start time 6:30pm.

Music on Main

Part Time Blues Band. Vintage and contemporary rock and blues dominate the PART-TIME BLUES BAND’S song list, covering such artists as B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn. First Friday of every month May – October. Free admission.

Festival of Food Trucks

Get Gourmet Fare from a bunch of trucks!  The Downtown Mooresville Food Truck Festival takes place on North Main Street from 5-8:30pm monthly through October.

Statesville Car Show

Spend the day at the car show, there will be a DJ, refreshments, and food. This car show is for charity supporting Matthew 25 Ministries to help families at Christmas. Registration is between 7-11am and costs $20. The national Anthem will be played at 12 noon.

35th Bon Ordori

This is our 35th Bon Odori, Japanese summer festival. Admission is FREE. Please come and join us. We will have cultural sections, shops, Japanese style lunch boxes, martial art, drum performances, and so on.  Wells Fargo Atrium, 11am – 4pm.

The Temptations

For more than fifty years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits and sold-out performances throughout the world. The Temptations’ forty-four Billboard Top 10 hits include My Girl, Ain’t Too Proud, Papa Was a Rolling Stone and I Can’t Get Next to You.  Holmes Convocation Center at Davidson College, 7:30 pm.

Confluence: Where Music Gathers

Confluence: Where music gathers. Where local musicians meet the stage. Where crowds meet their new favorite band. And where industry professionals meet local artists. Part festival, platform, and conference, Confluence is for musicians to perform and learn, and for music lovers to discover and enjoy. Aug 3-4. Whitewater Center.

Monday August 5

Community Garden

Come grow your own organic vegetables, herbs or flowers right here in the fenced garden behind the plantation house at Latta Plantation. Community garden plots will be accessible Mondays through Saturdays, 9 am – 5 pm and Sundays, 1 pm – 5 pm. Gardeners need to provide their own seeds, plants and tools

The Colors of Mars

The Earth is blue because of the ocean, but why is Mars red? We will look at the very basics of Mars to understand how it gets its coloring.

Tuesday August 6

WDAV presents Classical Kids

WDAV Classical Public Radio and the Davidson Public Library are partnering to present Classical Kids, an hour-long kids program designed to engage youngsters first grade and up in an introductory exploration of classical music. 10:30-11:30am.  Davidson.

National Night Out

America’s night out against crime. This annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

Wednesday August 7

Main Street Writers

7:00 PM  8:30 PM at Main Street Books in Davidson.  Main Street Writers is the bookstore’s open writing club, where writers of all ages, levels, and genres are invited to convene and dedicate 1.5 hours to honing their craft.

Star Wars Destiny Game Night

Come out and play for fun and promo cards! Test out your decks and meet new players! Looking for that one last Legendary card you need? Someone here probably has one for trade!
