Four young people were involved in the accident. Two jet skis apparently collided in open water off the tip of Peninsula Cove Lane in The Peninsula about 4:30 pm Sunday.
The town fireboat was close by training and First Responders were on scene quickly.
A truck from Fire Station No. 2 arrived simultaneously and they began CPR. A crew from Fire Station No. 1 assisted with patient care due to the severity of the injuries.
It’s unclear exactly what happened but there were “patients In the water.” The fireboat went to investigate and found two others on a sailboat, one was uninjured.
The fireboat transported them to Kings Point Marina where they met a crew from Huntersville Station No. 2 as well as Medic.
Firefighters assisted Medic with transporting the patient to CMC. Cornelius Police did not release any information.
NC Wildlife Resources, which is handling the investigation, said a report could take days if not weeks to prepare.
