May 18. David Auger, the CEO of Continuum, has passed away. He led the community-owned and locally operated communications and cable system that serves Mooresville, Davidson and Cornelius.

Since joining the former MI-Connection cable operation in late 2011, Auger, known as a dedicated leader, steadily increased the total number of customers as well as revenues, helping to dramatically reduce Mooresville and Davidson’s contributions the company’s debt service.

Auger previously was Time Warner Cable’s Charlotte region president as well as the publisher of the Los Angeles Daily News.

Friends said he worked ceaselessly until the very end. Funeral arrangements were not available.

The towns of Mooresville and Davidson have retained RBC Capital Markets as the exclusive financial advisor for the proposed sale of the company that Auger and his team successfully turned around.

If the towns receive a satisfactory offer, the citizens of Mooresville and Davidson will be asked to approve the sale on the November ballot, per state statute.

Auger was highly regarded by Continuum employees, his job and the communities they served.

Last year, the company announced 12 new employees. Auger said Continuum was “entirely committed” to the communities they serves. “To me, that doesn’t just mean providing the best Internet, Voice and Cable service. It means providing employment opportunities for the folks who live here too,” he said.

Auger announced his retirement back in 2017, but he continued to work.

In a press release when Auger’s retirement was announced, former Mayor John Woods said “we are grateful for David’s leadership over the past several years to bring MI-Connection to where it is today.”
