The third annual Butterfly Run in honor of the late Lauren Kimsey gets under way at 8 am Saturday May 18 at Aquesta Bank in Cornelius. The event, which will feature a live butterfly release, is organized by the Lauren Marie Kimsey Foundation for Synovial Sarcoma.

support efforts to find a cure for sarcoma and also help families defray costs not covered by insurance. A small portion of the proceeds will also benefit Big Day at the Lake, one of Lauren’s favorite charities.

The family-friendly event will feature live music by Davidson Mayor Rusty Knox, an interactive butterfly tent, face painting and tattoos as well as food and beer trucks.
