ELLIOTT

William Hurley Elliott, Jr. (Pete) of the Long Creek Community passed away March 18, 2015 at the age of 95 at Novant Hospital in Huntersville. He was born January 5, 1920 to William Hurley Elliott Sr. and Myrtle Plummer Elliott. He owned and operated  Elliott’s Garage with his Uncle Bill Elliott for more than 35 years. He believed that you should be a honest and fair man. He was a GIVER.  He loved to give his time, energy and money if necessary to who ever needed it. He loved to cook and eat and jokingly told people that he  got his chef training in Paris. Our history book for the Long Creek community has found its final  resting place  in a special place forever. He was very active in  the Long Creek Fire Department and served as Fire Chief for many years. He also served in the U.S Army for three years and was stationed in Iraq and Iran and had may stories of his experiences while there. Pete married the love of his life, Otley Hockaday and they were a perfect match.

Pete is survived by a cousin Nancy Cross, a niece Donna Lyn Kerns and a nephew Scott Climer and  a brother in-law Donald Caldwell and many extended family and friends. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Otley Hockaday, his sisters Marilyn Caldwell and Mozelle Climer.

A  graveside service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM.  At that time Otley’s ashes will be buried with Pete.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church,  6230 Beatties Ford Road Charlotte, NC 28216.
