Events Sept 6 – Sept 16

Registration is underway for Fall A Session at the Cornelius Arts Center. The six-week adult and youth classes start the week of Sept. 10. Musicians and singers, check out the opportunities at First Baptist Church in Mooresville. The church has choirs for ages three and up, handbells for children and adults, orchestra and praise band, and In His Steps Dance ministry for grades K-12. There is no cost to participate.

Thursday, Sept. 6
LangTree Live concerts are held every Thursday during the summer. Blue Monday will perform 7-9 p.m. at LangTree Lake Norman in Mooresville.


Friday, Sept. 7

Free outdoor concert with music by beach/variety band Chairmen of the Board. Food and drinks available for purchase. 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Mooresville Town Hall.
The Piedmont Amateur Astronomers will lead a free stargazing event. Registration required. 6-10 p.m. at the EnergyExplorium at McGuire Nuclear Station in Huntersville.
Come experience the area’s most talented comics. Hosted by Queen City Comedy. 8 p.m. at Oak Street Mill in Cornelius.
Saturday, Sept. 8
A doctor gives a brief presentation on a health topic and then leads participants on a walk. Healthy snacks, coffee, water, and blood pressure checks are offered free of charge. 9-10 a.m. at the Davidson Town Green.
Immerse yourself in “vulture culture” and learn why vultures are so important to a healthy environment. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville.
Patrice Gopo, author of “All the Colors We Will See,” will read and sign copies of her book. 4-5 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.

Free and open book and knitting club meets monthly for an hour of communal knitting and audiobook enjoyment. 4-5 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.

Dr. Heather Perry from UNC-Charlotte will talk about local and national involvement in World War I in a presentation called “Camp Greene, Hot Springs, and the War to End all Wars.” 6 p.m. at the Mundy House Annex in Denver.
Tuesday, Sept. 11
The MHA North Branch will meet at the ruins of the Captain Richard Barry House, then go to a member’s house for refreshments and a planning session. 7 p.m. at the Barry ruins in Huntersville.
Dr. Gary Freeze will present “The Piedmont’s Bronze Age Confederate Monuments: A Quasi Archaeological Report.” 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Davidson College.
Wednesday, Sept. 12
NC Sen Jeff Tarte will present “Hands Free Town Hall,” a discussion of legislation on texting while driving. 9 a.m. at the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce in Cornelius.
Join the Davidson Housing Coalition for a great meal. A portion of proceeds will be donated to DHC. 11 a.m.-10 p.m. at Flatiron Kitchen and Taphouse in Davidson.
Join the Cornelius Police Department for a family-friendly event about bicycle and pedestrian safety. 7-8:30 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall.
Thursday, Sept. 13
I-77 Mobility Partners will conduct a public hearing to describe toll pricing methodology and present proposed initial rates for I-77 Express. 6:30 p.m. at Huntersville United Methodist Church.

Get lost in a giant seven-acre corn maze featuring more than two miles of interconnected paths, take a hay ride, play cornhole, have a picnic and hike trails. Open weekends through Nov. 4 at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville.
