The town’s annual budget retreat—a strenuous, two-day work session—gets under way March 17 at the Graylyn International Conference Center in Winston Salem. The mayor, members of the Board of Commissioners and key staff members attend the two-day workshop where, like a company, they get into the details of budgeting and goal-setting. The workshop begins at 9 am on the 17th and 18th, and it’s open to the public. The meeting room, however, is small, and it may be standing room only.
