Upcoming Events: March 1 – March 11

Summer camp registration opens today, March 1! Cornelius PARC Department is offering more than 100 camp options, but the spots fill quickly. While you’re planning the kids’ summer, register your budding veterinarians for Rescue Ranch’s 2018 Critter Camps, spring and summer camp sessions offering hands-on educational experiences with animal interactions. Speaking of warm fuzzy animals, ​bring the kids to feed the vultures this Saturday at the Carolina Raptor Center.

Summer Camps
Registration for the Cornelius PARC Department Summer Camp program opens at 7 a.m. today. There are 115 half-day and mini camps as well as eight weekly full-day camps.

Home Grown Exhibition

Reflections on Vietnam
Joseph Galloway, former war correspondent, co-author of “We Were Soldiers Once… And Young” and consultant on Ken Burns’s “The Vietnam War,” will present his reflections on the Vietnam War and the men and women who served in it. 1-3 p.m. at the Mooresville Public Library.
Daily Writing Resilience

Mayor Woody Washam and the Town Board of Commissioners will be available for coffee, questions and conversation during this new monthly event. This month, the discussion is about the anticipated $25 million bond for major road projects in our area. 8:30 a.m. at Harvey’s in Cornelius.

Open House
The parks departments of Mecklenburg County, Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville will host an open house to discuss the planning process for the proposed Northern Regional Recreation Center. Share ideas, enjoy games, activities and refreshments. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Bailey Middle School in Cornelius.
Souper Bowl
Local restaurants will show off their soup creations at this fundraiser for the Davidson Housing Coalition. 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Lilly Family Gallery at Davidson College.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Annual parade features Irish pipe band, Irish dancers, green cars, family fun and more. 3 p.m. in downtown Mooresville.
Easter Bunny Photos

Outdoor Hike
Davidson Parks and Rec and Davidson Lands Conservancy are offering a series of hikes led by expert naturalists. The next hike is 2-4 p.m. at Fisher Farm Park in Davidson.
Concert
The Alexander Community Concert Series welcomes award-winning sibling group Southern Raised, who will perform their unique blend of bluegrass, Celtic and Christian country. Reception follows the concert. 3 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of St. Peter by-the-Lake in Denver.
Concert
Charlotte bluegrass and folk music legend Jon Singleton will join Jon Hill and David Gilliland to perform Irish music for fiddle, mandolin and piano. Free. 3 p.m. in Tyler-Tallman Hall at Davidson College.
Meet the Morrisons
The Davidson Historical Society welcomes Jim and Ann Williams, who will portray Robert Hall Morrison, founder of Davidson College, and his wife, Mary Graham Morrison, daughter of General Joseph Graham. Free. 4 p.m. at the Davidson College Alumni House.
