5 commission candidates file together; Bilodeau files for mayor, Washam later this afternoon

Filing for Town Board: Furcht, Johnson, Higgins, Sansbury, Osborne

July 7. By Dave Yochum. As of 12:15 pm today, three sitting commissioners have filed to seek re-election to the Town Board, along with two newcomers. Denis Bilodeau, a sitting commissioner, has filed to run for mayor. He will run

Denis Bilodeau

against Woody Washam who is expected to file later this afternoon.

These people have filed to run for commission:

—Colin Furcht, incumbent

—Susan Johnson, first-time candidate

Woody Washam

—Scott Higgins, first-time candidate

—Michael Osborne, incumbent

—Todd Sansbury, incumbent

Filing closes at noon on July 21, so more people may file to run for five seats on the Town Board.

Former commissioners Michael Miltich and Thurman Ross are expected to file next week. They

were two of the four incumbents to lose in the 2021 board upheaval where the town’s rapid growth and resulting traffic issues were the primary focus.

Thurman Ross

Two weeks ago sitting Commissioner Dave Gilroy said, “while I’ve not yet made a final decision, I am unlikely to run for re-election this fall.”

All five seats are two-year terms and commissioners serve at large. The elections are non-partisan meaning candidates do not run with a party affiliation.

Two more weeks remain until filing closes for the Nov. 7 election.

This story will be updated later today as more candidates file.
