Small infill project on Feriba gets greenlighted by Town Board

Site plan for Towns at Feriba

Sept. 27. By Dave Vieser. Rezoning for a seven-unit infill townhome project in downtown Cornelius was approved at the Town Board. The project from Blue Heel Development, will be located on a 1/2 acre of vacant land which adjoins the west side of Feriba Place north of Townwood Road and will be called The Towns at Feriba Place.

Feriba Place runs from Townwood behind Fire Station No. 1 over to Kimbrough behind the Oak Street Mill.

Developer Matt Gallagher believes the project will bring affordable townhomes within walking distance of downtown.

The original proposal called for nine townhomes but Gallagher agreed to reduce the total number to seven after discussions with neighbors.

The town board’s approval comes with a requirement that areas inside the project buffers must be planted and maintained in accordance with the approved planting plan.

Infill refers to developments on unused and underutilized lands within existing developments.
