Zero-K 9-11 Monument Fundraiser set for Sept. 9

zeroKnewAug. 23. The Zero K 9-11 Monument Fundraiser promises all of the fun and none of the run of traditional race events, all for a good cause.

The North Mecklenburg Rotary Club, in partnership with the town of Cornelius and Bella Love’s 2nd Friday Street Festival, is sponsoring the event set for Friday, Sept. 9. The “un-run” — which is family-friendly and open to all ages — will feature a variety of food trucks, breweries, live music and activities for the kids.

This unique “race” event, which runs from 5:30-10 p.m. at the Oak Street Mill in downtown Cornelius, is for runners and non-runners alike. “Un-runners” are encouraged to train hard for the zero-K, which involves crossing the starting line before sampling the libations and taking part in numerous fun activities.

For a registration fee of $30, participants will receive a race bib, a T-shirt, drink tickets, a swag bag and entry for raffle prizes. Proceeds will go toward the construction of Cornelius’ 9-11 Monument.

To register, go to http://northmeckrotary.com/zero-k-registration.

Deadline for sponsoring the event is Monday, Aug. 29. For more information,  or to be a sponsor, contact Denis Bilodeau at 704-719-7961 or dbilodeau54@gmail.com.
