William “Donnie” Lanham, Jr., 54, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on May 12, 2016. Donnie was born June 3, 1961 to William Lanham, Sr. and Dianne Cox Laws. He was the owner/operator of Grace Grading and Hauling Construction Company. Donnie was a true servant of God. He touched so many lives and helped many people in need. He was a wonderful father, husband, son, and brother. Donnie was an active member of his church and the Shuffletown community. It was rare to meet someone that did not know and love him. He spent his spare time cooking and serving the homeless of Charlotte and surrounding areas, and sharing his testimony of God’s saving grace with everyone he met. Donnie’s passion was helping others in every way he could including helping with fundraisers for members of his community that were facing their own health crisis. Donnie did not let his battle with cancer define him nor limit his involvement with helping others, even in the last week of his life. Along with serving his church and community he was an active member of the Mason’s and a volunteer at the House of Prayer in Jamestown, NC.
Donnie was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his loving family; wife, Robin; daughter, Lauren; “nephew by blood, son by choice”, Jonah Dowell; mother, Dianne and her husband Roy; brother, Dale and his wife Wendy and their daughters, Ashley and Emily; sister, Dana Lewis and family; loving uncles, aunt, cousins, brothers and sisters in Christ.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 5:00 – 9:00 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 3:00 pm at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 14514 Lucia Riverbend Hwy., Mt. Holly, NC 28120. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Donnie to; Yadkin Bank, 3500 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., Charlotte, NC 28216 for the college fund for Lauren Lanham and Jonah Dowell or New Covenant United Methodist Church.
