We recommend it!​ ​The Lake Norman Bike Expo Saturday ​has info on greenways ​and safe rides, not to mention a 10-mile ​group ​ride at 8:30 a.m., and a​n easy​ family ride at 10:30.​
Thursday, May 10
Officials from Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson discuss regionalism, communication among lake towns and transportation projects. Open to the public. 5:30 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall.
Blood Drive
7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville.
“Fun and Games” themed day features lawn games of yesteryear, making games to take home, prizes and farm animals. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville.
Women’s Event
Lindsay Foess will speak about the importance of planning at the monthly meeting of the National Association of Women Business Owners. Enjoy networking, drinks and treats. 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Shoppes at Home, Heart and Soul in Cornelius.
Donation Event
Susan Tillis will host the fourth annual Red, White and Bundled Baby Shower to support NC military families with donations of baby items. 6-7:30 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall.
The Lake Norman Covekeepers invite all interested residents for an insect field walk and moth night demonstration led by Natural Resources Coordinator Lenny Lampel. This event was rescheduled after the April date was rained out. 7-9 p.m. at Cowan’s Ford Wildlife Refuge in Huntersville.
Barbecue Apocalypse
This play by Matt Lyle pairs the end of the world with a suburban summer barbecue. May 10-25 at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius.
Friday, May 11
“By Land…By Sea!” is a nature-inspired exhibit by Amy Hart and guest potters. Open through June 8 at the Cornelius Arts Center.
Festival
The North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival will feature live music from Leftover Salmon, Chatham County Line, Acoustic Syndicate, the Larry Keel Experience and many others plus beer from more than three dozen NC breweries. May 11-12 at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville.
Monthly community celebration featuring live music, food trucks, craft breweries, local arts and crafts, kids’ activities, more. 6 p.m. at Oak Street Mill in Cornelius.
Saturday, May 12
Shirley’s Angels “Love Your Headlights” 5K, 10K and kids’ fun run. Proceeds support breast cancer warriors. 8 a.m. at Huntersville Business Park.
Try bikes from local shops, learn about bicycle safety and maintenance, experience unique bikes and go on a community bike ride. 8 a.m. at Davidson Parks and Rec.
Beyond Walls is Cornelius’s annual, award-winning exhibition. Now open at Robbins Park in Cornelius.
Race City Festival
Mooresville’s annual event features NASCAR displays and souvenirs, live music, beer garden, food trucks, much more. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in downtown Mooresville.
Theatre Auditions
Davidson Community Players’ The Connie Company is seeking energetic and imaginative young adults for its Teen Summer Stock Series featuring productions of “Urinetown, The Musical” and “Orpheus Descending.” All actors ages 14-22 are invited to audition. Auditions will be held starting at 10 a.m. at the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson.

Safety Event
The Cornelius Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit will host a bicycle and pedestrian safety event as part of NCDOT’s Watch 4 ME NC Program. 7-8:30 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall.

Stevie Wonder tribute band Natural Wonder will perform. 5-9 p.m. at LangTree Lake Norman in Mooresville.

Sample strawberry creations, enjoy live music and celebrate Kids to Parks Day. 8 a.m.-noon at the Huntersville Farmers Market.
The Butterfly Run
5K run/walk to celebrate the memory of Lauren Marie Kimsey will begin with the release of 250 live butterflies. Proceeds go to Big Day at the Lake and The Lauren Marie Kimsey Foundation for Synovial Sarcoma. 8-11 a.m. at Aquesta Bank in Cornelius.
Asian Festival
Celebrate Asian cultures, diversity and history with performing arts, food and dragon boat races. Races start at 9 a.m. Festival is 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Ramsey Creek Park in Cornelius.
The Lake Norman Kiwanis Splashville Park in Cornelius will open for the season at 9 a.m. Normal hours of operation are 9-11:30 a.m., 1-3:30 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.
Second annual Lake Norman Festival of the Arts with Craft Marketplace will include one hundred local and national artists and craftsmen. Explore fine jewelry, apparel, decor, soaps, live plants, food and more. May 19-20 at Birkdale Village in Huntersville.
