Upcoming events: March 9-19

It’s time to go green at Latta Plantation’s annual Celtic Festival. Enjoy live music, historic Celtic warriors, heritage demonstrations, food and beer vendors, and much more. Activities for children include stories, dancing and visiting farm animals. The festival runs Saturday and Sunday, with a Celtic music fundraiser on Saturday night.
Thursday, March 9
Taxpayer Town Hall
The North Carolina chapter of Americans for Prosperity will discuss solutions to create small business growth, educational choice and a lower economic burden. Guest speaker Jason Saine. 7-9 p.m. at Langtree Plantation in Mooresville.
Davidson Community Players presents Tennessee Williams’s masterpiece about troubled former schoolteacher Blanche DuBois as she leaves small-town Mississippi and moves in with her sister and her husband in New Orleans. Feb. 23-March 12 at the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson.
Annual non-juried show features a variety of works by 100 local artists. Now through March 24 at the Cornelius Arts Center.
Friday, March 10
Artwork by local youth from kindergarten through high school. Opening reception, 6-8 p.m. at the Mooresville Depot Visual Arts Center.
Play: Ripcord
David Lindsay-Abaire’s comedy about adversarial roommates in a retirement home. March 10-25 at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius.

Live music, food and beer vendors, arts and crafts vendors, heritage demonstrations, children’s activities, more. March 11-12 at Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville.
A trained counselor from the NC Department of Insurance will help people considering retirement understand their options. Register online. 10 a.m.-noon at the Cornelius Branch Library.

Author Visit
Liz Hilliard, author of “Be Powerful,” will discuss her unique Hilliard Studio Method exercise classes and how she found the strength to overcome challenge. 4-5 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.
Southern gospel groups The Griffins and The Guardians will perform at 6 p.m. at Living Word Ministries in Lowesville.

CMS Superintendent Dr. Ann Clark will highlight the success of the system during her tenure and focus on areas of improvement. Incoming superintendent Dr. Clayton Wilcox will also speak. 11:45 a.m. at NorthStone Country Club in Huntersville.

The St. Therese Knights of Columbus will host a 5K to benefit children with mental and physical disabilities. 9 a.m. at Cornelius Road Park in Mooresville. A kids’ fun run will start at 9:45 a.m.
America’s Boating Course for anyone interested in boating skills and safety. Learn nautical rules, regulations and courtesies of the sea from experienced United States Power Squadrons instructors. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Duke Energy Environmental Center in Huntersville.
Spring Food Truck Rally
Food, beer and wine, live music, bounce houses, hay rides, more. 4-8 p.m. at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville.

An innocent man is on the run after he’s accused of murder in the French thriller “Tell No One.” Discussion follows film. 7 p.m. at the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson.
