Diary of Anne Frank
Davidson Community Players presents the story of a Jewish family in hiding during the Holocaust. Feb. 15-March 4 at the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson.
Girls Read Book Club
Girls in grades 3-5 invited for a discussion of “Fortunately, the Milk” by Neil Gaiman. 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.
Community Celebration
The Ada Jenkins Center celebrates 20 years of promoting education and equal opportunity for all citizens. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a cash bar. 5:30-7 p.m. at the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson.
Romare Bearden Exhibit
As part of our Black History Month celebration, Cornelius will exhibit seven amazing works by the late Romare Bearden, on loan from the Jerald Melberg Gallery of Charlotte. Feb. 12-28 at Cornelius Town Hall.

Focus Friday
This month’s topic is transportation improvements with the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization. 8:30-10 a.m. at the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce in Cornelius.
Parents’ Night Out
Kids ages 7-12 will enjoy an evening of crafts, games, pizza and a movie. Pre-registration required. 6-9 p.m. at the Cornelius Arts Center.
Auditions
Davidson Community Players’ Connie Company is holding open auditions for the spring youth musical, “Peter Pan, Jr.” Feb. 16-17 at the Actor’s Lab in Cornelius.
Art Exhibit
Through large-scale watercolor paintings and sculpture, Jen Ray’s “Surrounded by Wolves” explores female rebellion and the shifting nature of a woman’s identity. Open through March 3 at the Van Every Gallery at Davidson College.
Home Grown Exhibition
Annual local art showcase featuring a variety of works by more than 125 artists from Cornelius and surrounding areas. Open through March 30 at the Cornelius Arts Center Gallery.

Living History Event
Demonstrations presented by WWII re-enactors portraying both Allied and Axis troops. See uniforms, gear, weapons, camp life, more. Feb. 17-18 at Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville.
Brewery Tour

Concert
Davidson Artist Associate in Piano William Fried and Winthrop University Associate Professor of Music Tomoko Deguchi will perform Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” arranged for two pianos, as well as music by Charlotte-area composer Ron Parks. 3 p.m. in Tyler-Tallman Hall at Davidson College.
Cooking Class
Chef Jamie Dement, author of “The Farmhouse Chef,” will demonstrate four winter recipes from her book. 4-5:30 p.m. at the Wooden Stone Gallery in Davidson.
Auditions
Davidson Community Players announces open auditions for the March production of “First Date, the Musical” and the June production of “Monty Python’s Spamalot.” Auditions will be held 7-10 p.m. Feb. 18-19 at the Actor’s Lab in Cornelius.

Homeschool Day
“Waste Not, Want Not” day will help students discover how people of yesteryear used and reused everyday materials such as candle wax, fruit peels and corn husks. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville.
Children’s Play

The Roommate
It’s “The Odd Couple” meets “Breaking Bad” in this play by Jen Silverman in which empty nester and recent divorcee Sharon begins to rethink her life after her new roommate moves in. Feb. 23-March 10 at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius.
The Mountaintop
L. A. Theatre Works presents Katori Hall’s internationally-acclaimed play about the night before Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. 8 p.m. in Duke Family Performance Hall at Davidson College.
Saturday, Feb. 24
Hike Cornelius
Rescheduled from earlier this month, this leisurely two-mile hike through the park trail system will include Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists’ insights on the natural amenities. 10 a.m. at Robbins Park in Cornelius.
Black History Month Celebration
The Town of Cornelius PARC Department and the Smithville CommUNITY Coalition invite the community for memorabilia, live performances, children’s activities and refreshments. 1-3 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall.
Argentinian Wine Dinner
Nationally-recognized chef and author Dan Huntley will prepare a traditional feast over hot coals. Featured wine is from Bodega Familia Schroeder. 3-6:30 p.m. at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville.

Black History Month Service
The Rev. Dr. Jesse Lee Douglas, Sr., an early leader in the Civil Rights movement who marched with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will be a guest speaker during the church’s regular Sunday service. 10 a.m. at Torrence Chapel AME Zion Church in Cornelius.
Southern Flair Bridal Affair
Vendors, photo booth, snacks, door prizes. Noon-3 p.m. at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in Mooresville.
Dramatic Performance
Michael Conner, grandson of John Conner, will perform his self-directed “The Foreshadowing of a People: Reflections From the Past.” The performance will follow a screening of the film “Filling in the Gaps.” 2 p.m. at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center in Cornelius.
Concert

The Music at St. Alban’s series welcomes Virginia-based husband and wife duo violinist Matvey Lapin and pianist Katja Lapin. Duo Amabile will perform works by Schubert, Franck, Ravel and Part. 3 p.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson.
