Nov. 18. The 53,000-square foot Harris Teeter in Antiquity Town Center will open 8 am Wednesday, Dec. 2. Harris Teeter’s second location in Cornelius is the anchor of the new shopping center which includes 28,000 square feet of additional retail. It’s all adjacent to the “smart growth” Antiquity residential area which will comprise 1,000 residences when it is completed.

The opening was originally scheduled for November.

Antiquity Town Center has nearly a dozen retailers on deck, and more coming. The New Method Cleaning business, just to the north, will be renamed Rogers Cleaners and will move into Antiquity Town Center. Other new stores include Dunkin Donuts, Great Clips, Magnolia Nails, Zen Massage and Pita Pit. Truliant Federal Credit Union will also move in prior to Dec. 2.

One popular employee at the Old Jetton Harris Teeter, bagger Andy Bruce, will move to the new store nearer his home. Based upon previous new store openings, the Harris Teeter alone should generate more than 100 new jobs.

Harris Teeter actively supports local schools and youth sports organizations, and pro-actively hires adults with different abilities.

The store, which will have eight check-out lanes and four express lanes, will be open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
