The parks and recreation departments in Cornelius, Huntersville and Davidson are hosting a meeting of the Lake Norman Teen Council at 6:30 pm Sept. 13 at the Bailey Middle School gym.
The council is made up of teens in grades six through senior year. They are tasked with creating programs and volunteer opportunities for their peers. Members also develop a curriculum and have the chance to plan trips, dances, fundraisers and conferences.
The new executive board members are: Chairman Jordan Raszeja, North Mecklenburg High; Vice Chair Jewell Gentry, Hough High; Secretary Sabrina Ruch, Hough High; Treasurer/Program Director Andre Houtz, Hough High; and High School Program Committee Members Kadin Greenwalt, Ewan Hynes and Emily Kaufman Bell, Hough High. The middle school program committee member is Joey Parker, from Bailey Middle.
Refreshments will be provided at this meeting and parents are invited to attend.
