American Legion Post 86 in Cornelius will host a Captains Choice Golf Tournament fundraiser on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the Mallard Head Golf Course in Mooresville. The proceeds from this event will go towards funding various Legion programs including Boy’s State sponsorships, Memorial and Veterans Day ceremonies at the Cornelius Veterans Memorial, and general operating expenses. The entry fee for this event is $340 per team ($85 per player), and includes green fees, cart, lunch and beverages, mulligans, skirt, and a 50/50 raffle. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Lunch will be provided at 11 am and play will begin at noon. In addition to players, Post 86 is also seeking Hole Sponsors, corporate sponsors and door prizes for the event. The deadline is Wednesday Sept. 27 for providing sponsorships and Friday, Sept. 29 for player/team entries.
