Robert “Bob” James O’Brien, Jr., 77

Robert “Bob” James O’Brien, Jr., 77, of Davidson, NC passed away on November 27, 2017 at The Pines at Davidson. He was born in Rossiter, PA on May 7, 1940 to the late Robert James O’Brien, Sr. and Elizabeth Vadasy O’Brien.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by infant daughter, Linda; his Uncle, Frank O’Brien; and cousin, William Bill O’Brien.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dolly O’Brien; son, Dan O’Brien and his wife Jennifer of Tampa, FL; daughter, Kelly Gentry and her husband Steve of Davidson, NC; son, John O’Brien and his wife Julie of Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren, Jewell, Sarah, Daniel, Gambill, Brandon, and Dixon; brother, Dennis O’Brien and his wife Connie of Punxsutawney, PA; and uncle, Richard O’Brien and his wife Shirley of Warren, OH as well as many cousins.

Bob grew up in Rossiter, PA and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He graduated from Georgia State and earned his MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He retired from Lowes Companies in 2004. Bob was also a member of the Hibernian’s.

Bob enjoyed traveling and gardening. He always stayed busy and enjoyed doing projects. Bob also had a love of old cars but, above all he loved his grandchildren dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Mooresville, NC. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 1:00 pm until the start of the service. Following the service Bob will be laid to rest at Mimosa Cemetery in Davidson, NC.

The family would like to thank all of the caring staff at The Pines as well as the caregivers provided by Golden Hearts. The family would also like to extend a thank you to North Charlotte Hospice and Palliative Care.
