Richard Davis Walters, 69

Richard Walters

WALTERS

Our Heavenly Father joyfully received His faithful servant, Richard Davis Walters, into His eternal home on Thursday, April 30, 2015.  Richard, 69, of Huntersville, was born in Winston-Salem, NC, on April 2, 1946.  He met his wife, Susan Dicus Walters, there.  They would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on May 25, 2015.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Arrington, and his grandfather, Thomas A. Davis.  He is survived by his wife, Susan, son, Scott and daughter-in-law Crystal, and son, Tim and daughter-in-law Anna.  Richard was known as “Poppi” by his six grandchildren; Reagan, Mac, Meredith, Ty, Ben and Paige.  He was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Richard had many wonderful friends at Charlotte’s First Baptist Church where he attended for 37 years, many of those years as a deacon.  He then joined Lake Norman Baptist Church.  The love and prayers of our Sunday School Class,  have been a gift from The Lord.

Richard’s most recent place of employment was Midrex Technologies.  His co-workers have showered so much love, honor and respect on him during these past seven weeks.  We are blessed.  Richard served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Lake Norman Baptist Church, 7921 Sam Furr Rd, Huntersville, NC from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:30 am.  Burial will follow at the Forsythe Memorial Park Cemetery, Winston-Salem, NC at 2:30 pm.

Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Friends may offer condolences to the family at www.raymerfh.com.
