Old Fashioned BBQ & Candidate Forum Oct. 6 at Town Hall

Eleven candidates for the Cornelius Town Board will be in the collective hot seat Oct. 6 for the Old Fashioned BBQ & Candidate Forum in the Community Room at Town Hall.

The event, which is hosted by Cornelius Today, costs $9 to attend. The price includes a traditional pork barbecue lunch, complete with cole slaw, beans, cookies and a beverage.

A check will be presented to the TopDeck Foundation, which supports Cornelius Police Department, at the conclusion of the event.

Cornelius Police Sgt. Jonathan Sarver, a talented gospel singer, will lead the assembly in a patriotic song. Mayor Pro Tem Woody Washam will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Rev. David Judge, pastor of First Baptist Church in Cornelius, will moderate the forum. Bridget Rainey, co-founder of TopDeck, will be the timekeeper.

The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 6 at Town Hall. Candidates are available to greet the public before and after the formal program. Admission will be $9.50 online on EventBrite.com. Search Cornelius NC.
