Mary Evelyn (Evy) Barlow, 82

Mary Evelyn (Evy) Barlow, of Davidson, NC, formerly of Greensboro, NC passed away September 8, 2016.  Evy was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on January 4, 1934 to the late Rodolfo D. Criscuolo Kuntz and Carmen Maria Morales de Criscuolo.  Along with her parents, Evy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Homer M. Barlow, Jr.

She is survived by her 5 children:  Carmen (Kim) Paisley; Rudy (Lisa) Barlow; Vangie (Peter) Schlesinger; Lizzie (Siegfried) Barlow-Heiss; Randy Barlow; 10 grandchildren:  Randy, Adam, Chris, Meredith, Mallory, Alex, Dylan, Anneliese, Maximilian, Kilian, and 4 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Rodolfo E. Criscuolo Morales (Carmen) of San Juan, PR and sister, Carmen Siesig.

After graduating from Lasell Junior College in Massachusetts, Evy returned home to work in her father’s business and to “marry and have babies”.

In 1970 the Barlows moved from San Juan, PR to Greensboro, NC where Evy made a home for the family.  Upon encountering the “empty nest”, she began working for the Blue Bell Corporation as part of the team of Wrangler International.  After retiring from Cone Mills International, Evy moved to Lake Norman to be closer to her daughter’s family.

Evy had many interest besides her family.  She enjoyed golfing with her husband and friends, was an expert at needlepoint and a most avid bridge player.  Her infectious smile and personality will be missed but remembered by those who knew her.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11 A.M. in the Day Chapel of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, NC.  The family will receive friends before and after the service at the church.  Evy will be laid to rest at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro, NC on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 12:00.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell, 202 Williamson Rd., Mooresville, NC  28117 or www.hoic.org.
