Martha Ellen Bumgarner Washam, 89, of Huntersville, NC passed away Monday, April 11, 2016. Martha was born March 1, 1927 in Mecklenburg Co. to the late Jacob and Mattie Potts Bumgarner. Martha loved her family, her home and her church. She was also a wonderful cook. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Shields Washam; brothers, James, Otis, Tom, Kenneth, and Ralph Bumgarner; sisters, Gladys Mooney and Joyce Gant.
Martha is survived by her loving family; sons, Jerry Washam and his wife Carolyn of Denver, NC and Butch Washam and his wife Roxanne of Stanley, NC; grandchildren, Rebecca and Justin Walters of Denver, Jennifer and Andrew McLain of Claremont, Travis and Amy Washam of Charlotte; great grandchildren, Kailey Washam and Megan, and Jacob and Evan McLain.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
