How we love Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the smart husband-wife-partner is already thinking about how to express their commitment. Last year, according to fundivo.com, Americans spent $19.7 billion on Feb. 14, including $2 billion on flowers and $2 billion on clothing. A little more than half of us celebrate the holiday, with jewelry and an evening out being the top expenditures, each category worth about $4.5 billion, according to fundivo. Cards, well, you gotta buy one; they came in at $1.14 billion. By the way, Feb. 14 is on a Tuesday this year. Oh, and this: Women spend about $100 on their most favored individual, while men spend about $196.
