Karli Arlene Richardson, 20, and Kelsey Mae Richardson, 18


Karli Arlene Richardson, 20, and Kelsey Mae Richardson, 18, of Mooresville, NC, were the victims of a ‘wrong way driver’ car accident on Good Friday, April 14th, 2017, in Phoenix, AZ. Karli and Kelsey were the daughters of Gary and Cathryn Hocking.

Karli and Kelsey graduated from CCTL (Collaborative College for Technology and Leadership) in Statesville, NC, each with their High School Diploma / Associate Degree. Upon the completion of this achievement, they both went on to universities.

Currently, Karli was a senior at Grand Canyon University, in Phoenix, AZ, and Kelsey was a junior at Western Carolina University, in Cullowhee, NC. Karli was set to graduate Thursday, April 27, 2017, with her BA in Communications and was planning on continuing with her Masters in Marketing. In honor of her daughter, Cathy will be accepting Karli’s diploma at Grand Canyon University, at the graduation.

Kelsey just achieved first semester Dean’s list in Bio-Medical Premed…Her plans after graduation were to continue onto medical school for Pediatric Oncology.

Karli and Kelsey were inseparable in life and also inseparable in death. Though they had distance between their schools, they were still as connected and close as when they grew up together at home. Their greatest joy was to come home to Mooresville to spend time with their family and friends.

Karli and Kelsey are survived by their parents, Gary and Cathryn Hocking, Perry Richardson (birth Father), (Grandmothers) Doris Custer Guth, Elaine Hemlock Hocking, Mary LaNelle Richardson, MaryAnn Morton, (Grandfather) James Maurice Richardson, (deceased Grandfathers), Rev. James Custer and Richard Hocking, (Uncles) Jesse Hocking, Richard Custer, Leon J. Morton, Steven J. Morton, Michael Richardson. (Aunts) Michelle Bowles, Renee Bowles Showers, Billie Jane Bowles Martin, Crystal Lemmonds. (Half-Sisters) Amber Richardson, Ashley Richardson, Alexandria Griggs, and lifelong family friend “Uncle” Albert G. Wold.

A visitation will be held at The Cove Church, 197 Langtree Road, Mooresville, NC
on Friday, April 21, 2016 at 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 22, 2016 at The Cove Church.  Following the service a reception will be held at the Johnson Carriage House and Meadows, 1360 Brawley School Rd., Mooresville.

They will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC.
