James (Jim) Howard Stocker, 71

James (Jim) Howard Stocker, 71 of Charlotte went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 28,  2015 after a courageous 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Jim was a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rose Sandra (Sandy) Stocker, two sons, Michael Allen Stocker (wife Pam), Christopher Aaron Stocker (wife Michele), and five grandchildren, Tanner, Ashton, Kennedy, Gabe and Cole.   He is also survived by siblings Harold Stocker (wife Laura), Polly Angel (husband Ed), Bill Stocker (wife Charlene) , Susie Hostutler (husband Jim), and many nephews and nieces.

Jim loved his family dearly.  Whether attending a sporting event, shopping, vacationing or enjoying a family meal, he simply adored time with his family. Moments with family became more and more precious to all as his disease progressed.  Jim was a man of strong Christian values.  He lived out his faith by never meeting a stranger and loving those around him.

Born in Wheeling, WV on June 12, 1943 to Valta and Allen Stocker.  Jim was a graduate of Triadelphia High School and a devoted member of Saint Marks church.   Jim served many years in sales related positions with Smuckers, Procter & Gamble and Wheeling Wholesale.   He and his wife  relocated to Tampa FL from Wheeling WV in 2004, followed by a move to Charlotte NC in 2013.

A memorial service will be held in Wheeling WV at Saint Marks Church at 141 Kurger Street on February 7 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jim’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association Western Carolina Chapter at
