Jacqueline Freeman Phillips, 78

PHILLIPS

Jacqueline Freeman Phillips, 78, of Huntersville, formerly of High Point, died June 28, 2015 at her home. She was born in Pickens, SC on September 17, 1936 to the late Val and Eula Freeman. Jackie and Gene served in the ministry all of their lives, including serving as missionaries to France for 25 years and were also active in ministries in Raleigh and High Point.

Survivors include her husband Rev. Gene Phillips of Huntersville; sons, Steve Phillips and wife Susan of Alexandria, VA, Stan Phillips and wife Valerie of Davidson and Getachew Girogis and wife Abeba of Raleigh; sister, Pat Horton and husband Bill of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Alyssa and Kristina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Huntersville, (in the name of the Jackie Phillips Youth Scholarship Fund) 119 N. Old Statesville Rd. Huntersville, NC 28078. The scholarship would be awarded to high school seniors for higher education who have demonstrated a dedication to mission work. Memorials may also be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 38000 Shamrock Dr. Charlotte, NC 28215.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday 1 at First Baptist Church in Huntersville. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Following the interment, the family will receive friends in the church discipleship center.
