Dec 21. By Dave Vieser. At their Monday December 21 meeting, Cornelius commissioners are expected to resume discussions concerning the wording of a resolution reaffirming the town’s opposition to the I-77 toll lane project.

The first draft of such a resolution was tabled at the previous meeting after a spirited discussion on the actions of Mayor Chuck Travis among several of the commissioners following his fact finding trip to Texas.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the board is expected to act on a proposal for a $10,000 Jetton Road safety study. If approved, this study will provide infrastructure recommendations for improving safety for vehicular traffic in the study area from West Catawba Avenue to Beaufain Street. This section of Jetton Road handles a significant volume of cross traffic from the nearby retail centers. The study will not address speed limits.

The meeting begins at 7 pm, in Town Hall on Catawba Avenue.
