If the weather cooperates… it’s a great time to be outdoors. Catch live music at LangTree Lake Norman on Thursdays and at Birkdale Village on Fridays and Saturdays all summer long.

Latta Plantation will present Civil War re-enactments this weekend, and Cornelius kicks off its outdoor cinema series with a screening of “Despicable Me 3” at Smithville Park on Saturday night.

Thursday, May 31
“By Land…By Sea!” is a nature-inspired exhibit by Amy Hart and guest potters. Open through June 8 at the Cornelius Arts Center.
Beyond Walls is Cornelius’s annual, award-winning exhibition. Open through January 31, 2019 at Robbins Park in Cornelius.
Bestselling humorist David Sedaris will join us for a book reading and signing, food trucks, live music and friendly Sedaris-themed competitions. 6-10 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.
LangTree Live presents retro party band Joystick. 7-9 p.m. at LangTree Lake Norman in Mooresville.
Friday, June 1
Chunky Daddy will perform classic and modern party hits. 6:30-9 p.m. on the town hall lawn in Mooresville.
Enjoy a night out with a date or friends while we keep the kids entertained in an adjoining room! Ages three and up. 6-11 p.m. at All Around the Board Game Cafe in Cornelius.
Mingling on the Greens
Live music every Friday and Saturday night throughout the summer. Acoustic Measures with Bob Trice will perform 7-9 p.m. at Birkdale Village in Huntersville.
Bring lawn chairs and enjoy a free screening of Disney’s “The Lion King.” Arrive at 7 p.m. for free popcorn and drinks. Film starts at dusk at Blythe Elementary School in Huntersville.
Film Screening
The Light House Spiritual Center will host the release of “Mantra: Sounds Into Silence.” Tickets must be reserved in advance. 7:30 p.m. at Birkdale Regal Cinemas in Huntersville.
Saturday, June 2
Proceeds go to Serenity House. 8 a.m.-3 p.m.at Serenity House in Mooresville.
Participants earn their Warrior helmet by tackling a fierce 3-4 mile course and 12 extreme obstacles, then enjoying a post-race party. Proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 8:30 a.m. at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville.
Tinkerfest
Create and explore how things move and work at our first-ever Tinkerfest, a daylong celebration of tinkering for girls in grades K-5 and their families. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Discovery Place KIDS in Huntersville.
Kayak Outing
The Catawba Riverkeepers will host an outing on Mountain Island Lake to see wildlife and aquatic plants and enjoy the beauty of the lake. 9 a.m.-noon at the Neck Road Access in Huntersville. Register bynoon on June 1.
Meet authors and celebrate the start of summer with beach-themed fun including a lesson on sharks and a scavenger hunt. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.
Lake Norman BabyFest
Comprehensive information on infant health and safety, shopping for baby items, kids’ activities. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville.
“Chancellorsville: The Prelude to Gettysburg.” Live demonstrations, self-guided tour of the living history farm, vendors. June 2-3 at Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville.
Choose between the Eagle Encounter and Meet the Stars Encounter for a variety of “nose-to-beak” experiences with raptors. 1 p.m. at the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville.

Blood Drives
8 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville and 8:45 a.m.-1 p.m. at Temple Kol Tikvah in Davidson.
Monthly programs for children will offer hands-on activities to explore environmental education. The June topic is “Homey Habitats.” Pre-registration required. 1:30-3 p.m. at Stumpy Creek Park in Mooresville.
Gaga Ball Tournament
The Jewish Council of Lake Norman invites families for a gaga ball tournament for kids and field games for all ages. Light lunch served. Free; donations appreciated. Noon at Temple Kol Tikvah in Davidson.
Award-winning chefs will prepare an amazing family-style meal featuring delicious locally-grown products from market vendors, wine pairings, cocktail hour and a silent auction to benefit the Davidson Farmers Market. 5-9 p.m. at the Davidson Town Green.
Monday, June 4
Join Mayor Woody Washam and town commissioners to discuss the FY19 budget, welcome new town manager Andrew Grant and thank former manager Anthony Roberts for his 17 years of service to our town. Coffee will be provided and breakfast may be purchased. 8:30 a.m. at Harvey’s in Cornelius.
Benefit Golf Tournament
The second annual Pounding For Parker Golf Tournament will help advance research for pediatric brain tumors and improve the quality of life of childhood cancer survivors. 10 a.m. at NorthStone Country Club in Huntersville.
Tuesday, June 5
Plein air artists from several states will attend a workshop and paint out open to artists who paint in a two-dimension format. Lake and land sites available. Workshop, June 5-7. Paint out, June 8-10. Paintings will be exhibited at the Mooresville Arts Gallery.
Gardening Program
Master Gardener Anita Matlock-Murphy will lead a discussion on summer vegetable gardening. Bring plants for a clinic to follow the discussion. 6:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Public Library.

Tri Latta Sprint
Test your mettle at this event, part of the AAA Car Care NC Triathlon Series. 6:30 a.m. at Latta Plantation in Huntersville.
Growers-only market featuring nearly 40 vendors with a variety of produce, plants, baked goods and specialty food items. 8 a.m.-noon in downtown Davidson.
Blood Drives
10 a.m.-1 p.m. at at the Caldwell Station Community in Cornelius and 3-6 p.m. at the Regal Theaters Birkdale 16 in Huntersville.
Learn stand-up paddleboarding in a safe environment with certified instructors. Ages 12 and up. 3:30-5 p.m. at Aloha Paddle Sports in Cornelius.
