Early voting starts Thursday

Early voting begins Thursday at Town Hall under a new schedule adopted by the county Board of Elections. Voters can cast their ballots starting Oct. 20 from 8 am to 7 pm weekdays, 10-6 Saturdays and 1-6 pm Sundays. Early voting concludes at 1 pm Saturday Nov. 5.

For those who would rather wait until Election Day, Tuesday Nov. 8, polls in will open at 6:30 am and close at 7:30. There are four polling places in Cornelius: Community in Church Lutheran Church, 7621 Norman Island Drive; Jetton Park, 19000 Jetton Road; Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19920 Bethel Church Road, and Cornelius Town Hall. To check on your polling place, call the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections: 704-336-2133.

In addition to President/Vice President, Governor and US Senator from North Carolina, voters will also be selecting NC legislators, commissioners for the County Board, Attorney General and judges.
