Early voting starts Saturday Oct. 28 in Cornelius

Oct. 19. By Dave Vieser. One stop/early voting will begin next week in Cornelius at Town Hall under a new schedule adopted by the Mecklenburg Board of Elections. Voters can cast their ballots starting Saturday Oct. 28 from 10 am to 1 pm, or 10 am to 7 pm from Monday Oct. 30 to Friday Nov. 3. The final day for early voting will be Saturday Nov. 4 from 10 am to 1 pm.

Cornelius voters will be selecting a new mayor—Woody Washam is running unopposed—and all five commissioners for the Town Board. School Board Member Rhonda Lennon, a Cornelius resident, is seeking re-election, while Annette Albright and Jess Miller are also running for the post. (Amy Moon Hallman’s name will also appear on the ballot for the school board but she is no longer actively seeking the position). Finally, voters will pass judgment on a $922 million bond issue for CMS Schools.

For those who would rather vote even sooner, get to the Hal Marshall County Annex, 618 N College Street in Charlotte. Early voting starts there today, 8 am to 5 pm.
