Doris Porter Sanders, 70

 

In Loving Memory of Doris Porter Sanders

Doris Porter Sanders, 70, of Cornelius, NC gained her angel wings on July 12, 2017 after a long and courageous battle against cancer. We will carry her memory in our hearts forever.

She was born on April 10, 1947 in Queens, New York to the late Doris and William Porter and was happily married for 52 Years to the late Raymond Sanders Sr.

Doris was a loving mother of seven sons, and a homemaker for many years. As her sons got older, she used her years of mothering experience to work outside of the home in several different childcare centers:  Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Childcare Network, The Children’s Cottage, and Davidson-Cornelius Day Care.  When she wasn’t working, Doris enjoyed crafts, shopping, traveling, and watching Dancing with the Stars.

Doris is survived by her sons Raymond Sanders, Jr. (Desiree) of St. Johnsville, NY; Randy Sanders (Kristy) of Mooresville, NC ; Billy Sanders and Robin Sanders (Karla) both of Cornelius, NC; Timothy Sanders (Tena) of Cherryville, NC; Christopher Sanders (Anissa) of Mt. Pleasant, NC.; 15 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren also survive.  She is preceded in death by her oldest son, Richard Sanders and her brother William Thomas Porter.

She also leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Emma Shipes of Fort Mill, SC and Mary Ann Henderson (Jim) of Burlington Flats, NY. along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 7-9pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.

Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 2pm in Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home Chapel with burial immediately following at Mount Zion Community Cemetery. Rev. Lawrence Ownbey and Rev. Bill Taylor will officiate.

The family wishes to thank Hospice nurse Kelly Andrews and CNA, Courtney Seamon for their unlimited support and loving care to Doris during her illness.
