Central Piedmont Community College’s Public Safety Division, together with the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce’s Diversity Council, will host a Community Forum Aug. 11 at the Huntersville campus. The goal is to stress the importance of maintaining a positive relationship between law enforcement and community members.

Representatives from CPCC, CMPD, Huntersville Police, Davidson Police and the FBI are expected to participate.

Christopher Hailey, chairman of the Lake Noman Chamber of Commerce’s Diversity Council, will lead multiple discussions focused on the recent police events across the nation and understanding the events that led to these tragedies.

The forum runs Thursday, Aug. 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium at CPCC’s Merancas Campus, 11920 Verhoeff Drive in Huntersville. Participants include Dr. William Kennedy, director, CPCC Public Safety Training Division; Detective Garry McFadden (Ret.), CMPD Homicide; Chief Jeanne Miller, Davidson Police Department; Sgt. Stan Moore, director, CPCC Basic Law Enforcement Training School; Chief Cleveland Spruill, Huntersville Police Department; and M. Quentin Williams, chairman/CEO, The Butler Lappert Williams Firm/former FBI agent.
