Feb. 2. The Cornelius branch of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library celebrates its 16th birthday with special events starting Saturday and running through Feb. 13.

  • Family Storytime with Pete the Cat: Meet the coolest cat ever and join us for a fun-filled morning of Pete the Cat stories, literacy activities, refreshments and fun!  Bring your camera and have your picture taken with Pete.  10 a.m. Feb. 6.
  • Let Off Some STEAM: Ages 5-11 invited to discover the world of science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) through books, hands-on activities, and experiments.  2 p.m. Feb. 6.
  • Genealogy 101: Get started researching your family tree.  Join Shelia Bumgarner from the Carolina Room as she walks you through the process.  10 a.m. Feb. 9.
  • Internet Basics: Learn how to access, navigate, and print websites.  Get basic techniques for searching the internet and being safe online.  This class is for people already comfortable using the mouse and keyboard, but with little or no previous internet experience.  2 p.m. Feb. 10.
  • Community Service Project: Teens and preteens invited to join us as we work on projects around the library.  2 p.m. Feb. 13.
